"My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Although we had spoken with our doctor, we had many questions unanswered and wanted to prepare to see the specialist. Through our CARExpress program, we called the 24-Hour NurseLine and they were so helpful. The nurse was able to give us very detailed information about the disease and what to expect. She also provided us with additional reference sources that we could research on our own."

J.T., Hicksville, NY

"With CARExpress, my son's medications were 20% lower. And,I go to my local pharmacy only two miles away."

E.L., Myrtle Beach, SC

"I purchased CARExpress somewhat apprehensively, but with the money back guarantee I had nothing to lose. I saved over $400 on our prescriptions and over $350 on our eye glasses in the first six months. CARExpress really works."

R.H., San Antonio, TX

"As an employer, I had to cut the cost of our existing benefit plan. By putting the CARExpress program in place for our employees, it has reduced our annual benefit costs significantly. And, our employees express satisfaction with their savings."

Long Term Healthcare Insurance - If You Don't Have Any!

Aging is but a natural and inevitable part of life and it's something you need to prepare for early on in relation to providing sustainable, quality long term care for your elderly loved ones. If you do not have long term healthcare insurance, you can still provide your loved ones with the best care possible by being a Preferred Medical Card member via CareXpress.

Types of Long Term Care Available

Save A Preferred Medical Card package can lower your bills by up to fifteen percent, which is similar or perhaps even more than equal to standard long term healthcare insurance rates. Affordability, however, shouldn't be the lone factor to take into account. You should also familiarize yourself with the various types of long term care available and determine which one may be most suitable for your elderly loved one.

Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF)

This type of long term care is most appropriate for patients who are incapable of fully and independently care for themselves for whatever reason. In such facilities, these patients will be under the supervision of medical professionals and caregivers.

Nurses, therapists, and licensed doctors are always on hand to monitor the patient's condition as well as provide the necessary therapy or treatment to help the patient resume a normal lifestyle if possible. Custodians or personal caregivers, on the other hand, are tasked to assist patients with grooming and other personal and basic needs.

Assisted Living Facilities

With this type of long term care, the patient is given as much autonomy as possible over and receives assistance only when required or requested. Similar to those under the care of skilled nursing facilities, patients live in medical facilities and under round the clock supervision.

Assisted living facilities are more affordable than SNF but do keep in mind they offer comparatively limited medical care as well.

Respite Care

Having your loved one continue living at home and under your personal care is ideal, but such an arrangement can be quite demanding and exhausting in the long term. If you do not wish to entrust your loved one permanently to a senior care facility, you can opt for a respite care arrangement instead.

With respite care, you can arrange for someone to temporarily take over your duties on a scheduled basis or whenever necessary.

The most affordable respite care arrangement would be to divide labor and responsibilities equally among all family members. But this is often difficult to arrange and you'll no doubt have an easier time arranging for outside help.

For in-home services, caregivers or nurses are usually paid by the hour. You may, however, also consider inquiring with local government and non-government organizations as some of these may offer services of trained volunteers free of charge.

For out-of-home programs, you can arrange for your loved one to stay at an adult day center or senior care facility during the time that you will be unable to personally care for him or her.

Home Health Care

Finally, you can arrange for home health care. This type of long term care arrangement is similar to respite care in all ways but one: unlike the latter, home health care is offered at a permanent or long-term basis.

With a Preferred Medical Card package, you'll have the opportunity to return your loved one's care and support by arranging for the best long term care possible.
